Transfer: Arsenal told to sign Chelsea target to replace injured William Saliba

· · 1 min read

Former France international, Frank Leboeuf, wants Arsenal to consider signing Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace as a replacement for the injured William Saliba.

Recall that Saliba sustained a leg injury while on international duty for France at the World Cup.

Lacroix is currently a top transfer target for Chelsea, with the latest reports suggesting Crystal Palace are demanding at least £55m for his signature.

However, Leboeuf believes Lacroix is the right player to partner Gabriel Magalhaes in Arsenal’s defence in the absence of Saliba.

“Saliba is one of the best centre-backs in the world right now, and when you have a player like that out for four or five months, of course it is a concern,” Leboeuf told Metro.

“You would think they have to do something.

“Whether it is a permanent signing or a loan, because you cannot afford to go into a season without a solution.

“Lacroix is a good defender. I know what he can do. He is French and has experience.

“Arsenal need somebody who can come straight in and be at the top level on day one and not take three months to adapt.

“If Lacroix can do that, then why not? He knows the Premier League. But it would have to be the right price and the right fit for what Arteta needs next to Gabriel,” he said.
