Top offensive players in FSU's win over Virginia
Florida State went down 7-0 against the Virginia Cavaliers in the first quarter on Saturday. After that, it was all Seminoles as they scored the game’s final 38 points and made it look easy in Doak Campbell Stadium.
FSU racked up a season-high 281 yards rushing versus Virginia and went six for 12 on third down. It wasn’t a huge game for quarterback Ashton Daniels throwing the football, but he did spread the rock around to six different pass catchers and complete 63% of his passes.
Besides an interception from Daniels that went off the hands of wide receiver Jayvan Boggs, it was a pretty clean performance offensively for Florida State. Now, let’s take a look at the three top offensive players for the Seminoles in this huge victory.
It has to start with Daniels. FSU scored five touchdowns against Virginia, and they all came courtesy of him. However, he reached the end zone each time via his legs, which set a Florida State record. Also, Daniels completed 12 of his 19 pass attempts. He looked poised and sure of himself versus Virginia, and that’s exactly what the Seminoles need from him going forward.
It wasn’t a big game for him, but Kromah was very solid with 80 yards on 17 carries, plus he added another 13 yards receiving. He’s having a very nice season so far, as his yards per game rushing sits at 95.4 with two games over 100 yards. He certainly will be needed during this tough stretch of ACC games coming up.
With Sam Singleton Jr. on the shelf, Wisner will need to step up and assist Kromah in the backfield. He showed that he’s capable on Saturday with 46 yards rushing on nine carries, and he also put up 60 yards on just two receptions, with one going for 48 yards. If he can continue these types of contributions, it will help keep Kromah fresh at the end of games.
