Tony Khan says he ‘would have supported’ John Cena wrestling AEW star during retirement tour

John Cena brought his wrestling career to a close in December 2025, and Tony Khan has now commented on the possibility that the multi-time champion could have wrestled Edge during his retirement tour.

After confirming he was going to step away from the squared circle, Cena faced off with a number of old foes, including Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, CM Punk and AJ Styles.

However, he never got the chance to clash with Edge (Adam Copeland), who is now in AEW.

During a recent interview, Edge suggested that AEW owner Tony Khan would have allowed him to return to WWE for one final match with Cena.

Now, as per the Metro, Khan has been asked about whether something like that was ever planned.

He stated that while he was never approached about Cena and Edge wrestling, he would have supported it.

Khan said: “I was never asked, and as far as I know, Adam was never asked, so it’s hard to say. But when there have been opportunities to collaborate, I have been collaborative in the past.

“I never got asked, but if I had been presented a plan and the dates and the information of what was going on, yeah, I would have supported it.”

Edge and Cena previously had some excellent matches when they were on the rise in WWE, and it’s a shame, according to Khan, that no attempt was made to set up one final fight between the pair.
