Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher Movie Is Now Streaming For Free On Tubi
One of Tom Cruise‘s most underrated action thriller films has been added to a free streaming service, arriving at just the right time. Tom Cruise’s action movies have been a defining characteristic of his filmmaking career. While he’s delivered plenty of emotional performances in movies like Born on the Fourth of July and Vanilla Sky, the more high-octane films are the ones he’s best known for. This includes everything from the sci-fi time loop of Edge of Tomorrow, to the historical drama of The Last Samurai.
However, Cruise’s action franchises are where most of his career recognition comes from. The most noteworthy of these are the Mission: Impossible movies, which saw him take on the role of Ethan Hunt across eight riveting installments. He also starred in both films of the Top Gun series, both of which cemented themselves as memorable action dramas with impressive practical effects for its fighter jets. These two have remained at the top for Cruise’s action franchises, especially in recent years. But they aren’t the only ones.
The other is a two-film series that began with 2012’s Jack Reacher. Adapted from Lee Child’s book series of the same name, the first movie saw Cruise take on the role of the title character, a former US Military Police Investigator and now a loner who travels the country. In the film, he’s brought in to investigate the killing of five people in a small town. While it appears the investigation has led to the right person being captured, the more Reacher peels back the layers of the case, he discovers all is not as it seems.

Now, as of November 1, 2026, Jack Reacher is available to stream for free on Tubi. This is the only free way to watch the Cruise-led movie, which is also available for subscribers to Paramount+. Its new home on Tubi means both movies starring Cruise are now free to watch: the sequel, 2016’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, is currently available on Pluto TV for free. As for the 2012 original, the film’s arrival on the platform means a larger audience now has access to the movie, a good sign for its future success.
The movie is worth watching, even if it earned some middling critical reception, in part due to inaccuracies from the novel. According to Rotten Tomatoes, reviews for Jack Reacher average 64% from critics and 67% from audiences, signaling generally favorable reviews. The movie is considered a decent action film with plenty of well-choreographed moments and an engaging performance from Cruise. However, it also falters in the story department, while also getting critiqued for inaccuracies to the novel.
Action Movie Adaptation Deserves Another Look After Alan Ritchson’s Prime Video Success

Despite the mixed-to-positive reviews, though, Jack Reacher is worth reevaluating following the success of Prime Video’s Reacher over the last few years. The TV show put Alan Ritchson on the map, while also providing a more accurate depiction of the character, especially his canon height and muscularity from the novels. However, it also makes for a fun comparison between the more accurate TV version and Cruise’s rendition, seeing what other aspects of the novels were changed for the movie.
Since the movie is now available to stream on Tubi, audiences can decide for themselves how much they like Cruise‘s version of the character and contrast it against Ritchson’s. As a standalone action movie, however, Jack Reacher still delivers on all the expected promises of the genre. This makes it all the more compelling to watch, not just because the movie is a fine installment in the genre, but also because of how it represents the evolution of the franchise onscreen.
