Tom Brady gets called out by Megan Rapinoe over Logan Paul feud

· · 2 min read

NFL legend Tom Brady is facing criticism from former USWNT star Megan Rapinoe over his public feud with Logan Paul. Rapinoe questioned why Brady would use his platform for a rivalry she views as unnecessary.

Speaking on her podcast “Why Are You Like This?,” Rapinoe discussed Brady while answering a question about the most overrated public figure she had encountered. She made clear that her criticism focused on Brady’s recent behavior rather than his football career.

Sorry to this person in advance,” Rapinoe said. “But I think, especially in light of recent events, and with the platform and capital available in what is a world that needs role models.”

Rapinoe then questioned Brady’s involvement in the ongoing Paul promotion. “I’m like Tom Brady, what are we doing? Why are we doing that?” she said.

She also praised Brady’s broadcasting work and his willingness to try something different. “I thought he got a lot better. I like people trying new things,” Rapinoe said.

The criticism centers on the highly publicized confrontation between Brady and Paul at Fanatics Fest. The pair’s exchanges have included trash talk, physical contact and a viral slap that fueled further attention.

Rapinoe specifically questioned the value of the confrontation. “What’s up with the slap and the fake beef? I’m confused,” she said. “Like, why do we need to do that? I don’t think we need to… That is bizarre.”

Brady’s situation reflects the challenge retired stars face when building new roles. His football reputation remains enormous, but entertainment ventures can create different expectations around his public conduct.

The Paul feud also carries a clear promotional element. Both figures benefit from attention, while their exchanges continue generating discussion across sports and entertainment.

Still, Rapinoe thinks Brady can have greater influence without leaning into that kind of spectacle. “Otherwise, I think he’s like really impressive in a lot of ways and has the ability to be an incredibly like influential figure in so many ways,” she said.

“And then you’re like slapping some dude on the ear,” Rapinoe added.

The controversy likely will not affect Brady’s football legacy, however, it is largely seen as a buildup for his potential storyline for WWE appearence. The NFL star has earlier openly expressed interest in making his WWE debut during an appearance on Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has said he is waiting for WWE President Nick Khan to create a storyline for him.

Brady thinks he can still showcase his athletic ability and urged Khan to “make it happen” for at least one match.
