Titans’ Robert Saleh proves he holds everyone accountable

The Tennessee Titans had an active day on Tuesday in the second padded practice of training camp; tempers flared, and the fireworks began.

In the aftermath of the first real altercation of camp, where tensions between star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and offensive linemen Austin Schlottmann and JC Latham overflowed, and Simmons threw a punch, one major difference between head coach Robert Saleh and the Titans’ previous regime led by Brian Callahan became clear. Saleh takes no crap.

Ironically, as pointed out by Titans Rossi! X (formerly Twitter), a very similar situation took place with Simmons during camp last season, and Callahan did nothing to rein Simmons in. No accountability, no discipline, nothing. And in the process, the organization suffered.

Last year, Jeffery Simmons threw a punch in camp under Brian Callahan and stayed in practice. No accountability whatsoever.

Fast forward to this season, under Saleh and the new regime, the situation was handled swiftly, and Simmons was ejected from practice and exiled to a secondary field to work with one of the trainers.

This is a far cry from Callahan and the overall lack of discipline that plagued the Titans long after Simmons threw a punch in camp. Tennessee was one of the least disciplined teams in the NFL under his watch, and the unforced penalties plagued them throughout his tenure.

Under Saleh, the structure is returning to the organization; with this one action, he proved that he will hold everyone accountable. Another sign that the Titans are in good hands under his control.
