Nigerian TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has recounted his experience in police detention, alleging that he spent nearly four days in a cell without food or access to a bath following his arrest by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.

Peller, 21, shared his account in a series of posts on Snapchat after regaining his freedom on Tuesday.

“I am ugly now; I can’t show my face yet. I slept in a cell for almost four days. It has never happened to me before in my life,” he wrote.

He added, “As they put me in a cell, people in the cell said, ‘You are our 001 now.’ Omo, I burst out laughing once. I did not talk with anybody till I came out. 001 that you gave water beans.”

Peller further alleged that he did not eat or bathe throughout his detention.

“I did not eat for four good days; I took no bath,” he said.

The content creator and his friend, Bello Oladipo, were arrested by the police along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road over allegations of driving a tinted vehicle without a number plate.

The duo were subsequently arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court on Monday on a three-count charge of allegedly resisting arrest, obstructing police officers from carrying out their lawful duties, and threatening as well as filming officers during an operation. The court subsequently granted Peller bail for ₦500,000.
