Tickets for Knicks NBA Finals Game 3 skyrocket ahead of Madison Square Garden showdown

New York Knicks fans are facing historic resale prices for Game 3 of the NBA Finals as the series moves to Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks return to New York with a 2-0 lead over the San Antonio Spurs after winning the opening two games of the series in Texas.

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday, June 8, at Madison Square Garden, with tip-off listed for 8:30pm ET.

Knicks fans face historic Game 3 ticket prices at MSG

Demand for seats has surged before the first NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden since 1999.

Daily Mail reported on Saturday morning that the cheapest available ticket for Game 3 was listed at $13,421 at the time of publishing.

Other resale figures also show the scale of the market. The New York Post reported that Game 3 was set to become the most expensive NBA Finals game in history, with the cheapest seats starting at $9,006.

Business Insider reported that the cheapest available StubHub tickets were around $9,000, while Gametime listed its cheapest displayed ticket at $10,095 including fees when checked on Saturday.

The market is moving quickly, and resale prices can change before tip-off. But the available figures underline how expensive it has become to get inside MSG for the Knicks’ first home game of the series.

Premium prices have also climbed sharply. Business Insider reported that two courtside tickets being auctioned by the Knicks had reached a bid of $500,000 as of Friday, with proceeds set to benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

The demand reflects the scale of the moment for New York.

The Knicks won Game 1 105-95 and Game 2 105-104 in San Antonio, according to the NBA Finals schedule. Game 4 is also scheduled for Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, June 10.

That means the Knicks can win the championship at home if they beat the Spurs in both games in New York.

The franchise is playing in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999 and is chasing its first championship since 1973.

New York’s run has added to the demand. The Knicks have won 13 straight playoff games after their Game 2 victory, with The Guardian reporting that Jalen Brunson hit the go-ahead free throw with 9.5 seconds left after a Victor Wembanyama turnover.

The series now moves from San Antonio to one of the league’s most recognisable venues. With the Knicks leading 2-0, Game 3 has become one of the most expensive NBA Finals tickets on record.

If New York wins again on Monday, attention around Wednesday’s Game 4 could rise further, with the Knicks then one victory away from lifting the trophy at Madison Square Garden.
