Three Nebraska men's basketball players play in FIBA Asian qualifiers

Three former Nebraska basketball players played a role in trying to qualify for a major international tournament. Jack McVeigh, Keisei Tominaga and Tai Webster all helped their teams to victory in the first round of the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.

McVeigh helped Australia blow out Guam 124-52 last Friday. He had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists in just 21 minutes. 

Tominaga came off the bench in Japan’s 92-73 win in China. He scored seven points in the victory.

Webster scored 12 points in New Zealand’s 106-102 double-overtime win over the Philippines. It was his first national team appearance since 2019.

Monday’s games will see New Zealand host Guam at 2 a.m. CT, Australia will host the Philippines at 5:30 a.m. CT, and Japan will travel to Korea for a 5:30 a.m. CT tipoff.
