‘This needs to be stopped’ – US lawmaker Anna Paulina Luna reacts to Nigeria attacks

United States lawmaker, Anna Paulina Luna, has reacted to reports of attacks and abductions in Nigeria, saying the situation needs to be stopped.

Luna made the statement in a post on X while tagging US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and US National Security Adviser Michael Waltz.

“This needs to be stopped,” Luna wrote.

She alleged that armed groups had attacked Christian communities in Plateau State, claiming civilians were under serious threat while Nigerian security forces struggled to contain the violence.

Luna also alleged that a pastor and his church secretary were shot dead on their way to church, while five Christians were ambushed in their vehicle.

She further claimed that a civilian guard was killed outside his home and that a man and his son were beaten and left critically injured.

The lawmaker also referred to the reported abduction of more than 100 people from Maburya, saying the victims remained missing.

Maburya is located in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, where suspected bandits invaded the community on September 13 and abducted residents.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying the attackers took some victims away after releasing elderly people, pregnant women and nursing mothers.

“Police and military tactical teams have been deployed to the location, while rescue efforts are intensified,” the police said.

Luna also claimed that Truth Nigeria had issued warnings before the attacks.
