'There is still time... I will give 100% until my last day'
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has said he was “sad” to learn the club could not renew his contract during the summer and that he had “options” to leave.
The 27-year-old is currently under contract until the summer of 2028.
He was widely criticised for his form last season, adding to speculation he may be near an Anfield exit.
Speaking before Liverpool’s Champions League opening fixture against Atletico Madrid, Mac Allister said “no direct conversations” between himself and the club had taken place over a new deal.
“They were with my agent. I don’t want to say things they never said, but they said they were not in the position to renew me,” added the Argentina international.
“I see Dominik [Szoboszlai] and Ryan [Gravenberch renewing their contracts and that makes me very happy because they deserve it.
“At the same time, it makes me a little bit sad that I didn’t get mine. Of course, there is still time.
“The fans don’t need to worry because I will give 100% until the last day I am here. We will see what happens.
“There were options to leave this summer. Right now, I’m at the right club.”
