‘The Shards’ FX Series Cast: Meet the Stars From Igby Rigney to Kaia Gerber

Teen betrayal is one of the most gripping coming-of-age storylines that we’ve ever binge-watched on television. Now, Ryan Murphy is adapting Bret Easton Ellis‘ semi-autobiographical book, The Shards, into a new thriller series, packed with a cast of rising Gen-Z stars.

Set in 1981 glamorous — yet brutal — Los Angeles, a group of snobbish high school prep students explore the typical curiosities that come with being a teenager: sex, drugs and betrayal. But to make matters worse is a mysterious new student, whose presence exudes the vibes of a gnarly potential murderer.

Igby Rigney – Bret Easton Ellis

Igby Rigney stars as the fictional teenage version of Ellis, an aspiring writer at an elite Los Angeles prep school whose life is upended by the arrival of a mysterious new classmate.

Rigney has become one of horror’s rising young stars thanks to his past collaborations with filmmaker Mike Flanagan. He starred as Kevin in Netflix’s The Midnight Club and Warren Flynn in The Fall of the House of Usher. Previously, he appeared in Blue Bloods and Fast & Furious Spy Racers.

Homer Gere – Robert Mallory

Homer Gere plays Robert Mallory, the new student whose arrival coincides with a string of grisly murders in town, leading Bret to suspect he may be connected to the serial killer known as “The Trawler.”

The actor, who is the son of Richard Gere and Carey Lowell, previously appeared in HBO’s Euphoria.

Graham Campbell – Thom Wright

Graham Campbell portrays Thom Wright, one of Bret’s friends at the L.A. Buckley School. Campbell is a newcomer whose biggest role to date is The Shards.

Kaia Gerber – Susan Reynolds

Kaia Gerber plays Susan Reynolds, one of Bret’s close friends and classmates whose relationships become increasingly strained as paranoia infects the friend group.

Gerber rose to fame as an internationally successful model following in the footsteps of her mother, Cindy Crawford. But outside of her family, the actress has steadily built a career with roles in American Horror Stories, Bottoms, Palm Royale and the comedy series Overcompensating.

Hayes Warner – Debbie Schaffer

Hayes Warner stars as Debbie Schaffer, another member of Bret’s inner circle. Warner is a singer-songwriter who is making her breakout television role in The Shards. 

Wes Bentley – Terry Schaffer

Wes Bentley plays Terry Schaffer, Debbie’s father, a movie producer.

Bentley has enjoyed a decades-long career since his breakout role as Ricky Fitts in the Oscar-winning film American Beauty. He later played Seneca Crane in The Hunger Games, followed by his roles in Interstellar, Mission: Impossible – Fallout and, of course, American Horror Story. He also spent five seasons as Jamie Dutton in Yellowstone.

Evan Rachel Wood – Liz Schaffer

Evan Rachel Wood portrays Liz Schaffer, Debbie’s mother. Wood is a Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee best known for her acclaimed performance as Dolores Abernathy in HBO’s Westworld. Her résumé also includes roles in Thirteen, Across the Universe, The Wrestler, Mildred Pierce and the voice of Queen Iduna in Frozen II.

Jordan Roth – Steven Reinhardt

Jordan Roth plays Steven Reinhardt in the series. Roth is known as a Tony Award-winning Broadway producer and former president of Jujamcyn Theaters.
