The Inner Circle 36 Main Event Result: Hamidi Floors Numsurin With Liver Shots In Atomweight Debut
Three-time ISKA Kickboxing World Champion Akram “La Pepite” Hamidi announced himself as a new atomweight Muay Thai contender, scoring a blistering first-round stoppage over former ONE World Title challenger Numsurin Chor Ketwina in the main event of The Inner Circle 36.
Streaming exclusively for subscribers at live.onefc.com in Asia primetime on Friday, October 30, the showdown opened a double-header inside the hallowed grounds of Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium, with ONE Friday Fights 176 to follow.
Dropping down from strawweight for the first time, the Team Valente standout looked fresh and springy, opening with probing teeps that kept Numsurin at the end of his range. The crafty Algerian-French tactician then foiled the Thai’s attempt to find a rhythm by checking the leg kicks, and he grabbed the early upper hand with a crisp right hook into a three-punch body combination.
Eager to limit the damage, Numsurin charged forward, only to run into Hamidi’s signature spinning backfist. A follow-up body shot sent the Thai to the canvas for the knockdown.
Seeing his rival barely hanging on near the ropes, “La Pepite” forced the issue with hooks that drove Numsurin into a defensive shell and left his body wide open. Moments later, the 27-year-old finished the job with two sharp left hooks to the liver at 1:57 of round one.
Hamidi’s fourth triumph on the weekly Asian primetime spectacle improved his striking record to 56-6. It also made him a name to watch in the chase for ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Nadaka Yoshinari‘s gold.
