‘The Cardinal Countdown: 6 Days Until Kickoff’

Summary: Because Stanquan has been around for awhile most fans will remember his name and maybe even his performance early in his career, turning heads as a true freshman in what seems like just a season ago, but many will likely forget that we got just a brief glimpse of prime Stanquan in 2025, with a lower leg injury limiting him to just five games all of last year.

A fully healthy Clark translates into something much bigger than folks may consider when looking at the linebacker room this year, and that is the return of the second leading tackler on the team in 2024, and the guy who finished second on the squad in tackles for loss in 2024 as well. For those keeping track at home he also led the team in forced fumbles in 2024, but at this point we’re just bragging. Clark sliding back into the rotation at the “mike” is a big reason many are not worried about a new defensive coordinator, or co-DC position, because we have guys at all levels who know the expectations, have shown they can perform, and are just looking for the opportunity to build on a Top 20 defense from a season ago. Stanquan is a senior on paper, but I believe has another year of eligibility if he wants it. My preference would be that he captains a defense that finishes Top 5 nationally on our way to a championship and earns himself a roster spot professionally….but that’s just my two cents.
