Brendan Sorsby issued a statement on his Instagram account after the Cincinnati transfer was granted an injunction to be eligible to play for the Texas Tech football team during the 2026 season.

Retired Tarrant County judge Ken Curry issued his ruling Monday a week after the injunction hearing to decide Sorsby’s fate after the NCAA ruled him ineligible to play his senior year with the Red Raiders after admitting to gambling on NCAA-sanctioned sports, including on Indiana football games during his time with the Hoosiers.

Curry’s ruling states that Sorsby will be suspended for the first two games of Texas Tech’s season and that the NCAA is not allowed to ban him from participating with the Red Raiders.

“I’m very grateful for the endless support I have received throughout this entire process,” Sorsby’s statement reads. “I am also grateful for the chance to rejoin my teammates. This opportunity comes with the responsibility to remain focused on my personal growth, the ability to learn from this experience, and to be able to use my situation to help others going forward.”
