Texas A&M 'feels like home' for 2027 5-star CB ahead of his decision

On Sunday, Texas A&M landed its sixth five-star prospect in the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, as elite wide receiver Eric McFarland chose the Aggies over Georgia and Florida, bringing a skill set similar to current junior wideout Mario Craver, and is widely seen as an immediate contributor once he makes his way to campus this time next year.

Combined with rising three-star wide receiver Damani Warren, who committed to the Aggies last Friday, Texas A&M‘s future wide receiver room is all but set, providing offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins plenty to work with after his inaugural season as the primary playcaller this fall.

On Wednesday, Texas A&M’s remaining priority prospect in the 2027 cycle, five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, will make his much anticipated announcement, and while the Aggies have been the leaders in his recruitment over the past two months, things have reportedly become highly competitive after his official visits with Michigan and South Carolina over the past two weekends.

Set to announce his commitment on the Rivals YouTube Channel, Dobson stated to Rivals Vice President of Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, that the most important factor he’s looking for in each program is “player development” and competing for a championship, while continuing to develop off the field, which coach Mike Elko has already established in College Station.

“They’ve been recruiting me since my sophomore year season,” Dobson stated. “The development is there. I trust BGA (Bryant Gross-Armiento), he’s young but definitely knows what he’s doing. Coach Elko and that defense I know is going to wreak havoc. Everything about A&M, the environment, the people, make it feel like home.”

Dobson had plenty of praise for the Michigan and South Carolina coaching staffs, especially knowing that Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer has had a relationship with Dobson since eighth grade and has pursued him ever since.

Still, Elko has repeatedly stated that Dobson is the missing piece to Texas A&M’s future secondary and, similar to current freshman cornerback Brandon Arrington, could see extended playing time during his freshman season.
