Texans WR Jayden Higgins suffers injury in joint practice session vs. Raiders
The Houston Texans are now on watch for an update on Jayden Higgins.
The second-year wide receiver left practice Tuesday with what appeared to be a lower-body injury suffered during team drills against the Las Vegas Raiders. In the red zone, Higgins was going for a pass when he fell to the ground and looked to be writhing in pain.
Multiple players on offense, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, wide receiver Nico Collins and fellow receiver Xavier Hutchinson, came over to check on Higgins as he lay in the grass. Being attended to by trainers.
While a cart came out to transport him, Higgins got up on his own power. He did not return to practice and was still being checked on by the medical staff when practice ended.

“No update at this time with Higgins,” Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said after practice. “They’re still evaluating him for a leg injury.”
Higgins, who emerged as the No. 2 receiver in Houston last season, had been arguably the best offensive player of training camp this fall. As the Texans look to compete for a Super Bowl title, they need him to become one of the X-factors in the pass-catching opposite Nico Collins to step up.
“He’s been doing great. I think he’s been able to put some great days together consecutively.” Stroud said after practice. “I think he’ll be fine, but I wish the best and hope he’s all good.”
Last season, Higgins finished with 41 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns. Seeing his impact, the Texans would be wise to rest him in Thursday’s preseason outing against the Raiders at Reliant Stadium.
