Tackle Boko Haram to safeguard Nigeria - Cleric urges Tinubu

An evangelist in Akwa Ibom State, Apostle John Okoriko, has said it was high time President Bola Tinubu used the necessary resources in the country and the available security architecture in the nation to tackle Boko Haram.

Okoriko, who made the call on Sunday during the monthly interactive session themed “The Power of Belief,” traced the atrocities of the Boko Haram sect to a wrong religious belief system which may destroy the nation if not checked.

He explained that there are belief systems that limit individuals, communities and nations, adding that Boko Haram and other wrong cultural beliefs are capable of bringing down the nation without promoting technological ideals that will make Nigeria compete with other nations of the world.

He observed that technology and the economy are driven by education and wondered what will happen if the same education, as a driver of technology and economy, is destroyed by the activities of Boko Haram in the northern region.

“If Boko Haram beliefs and other retrogressive cultural beliefs from other cultures are allowed to continue, Nigeria may not survive in the next 20 years.”

Okoriko noted that Nigerians do not believe in their nation because of a poor economy and lack of technological advancement. He advised them to learn to appreciate the country despite the activities of Boko Haram, with the hope that the government will fight them and restore security to the country.

“Lack of belief in Nigeria cannot sustain Nigeria in the next 20 years. A nation which does not believe in the rule of law is bound to collapse.

“Nigeria is one of the countries groping under wrong belief systems. Boko Haram believes that education is sacrilegious. The federal government should rise and discourage such negative beliefs to build a nation where education will drive development in science and technology,” he said.
