Sylva’s exit won’t weaken Bayelsa APC – Nabena
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, has said the resignation of former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva will not weaken the party in the state.
Nabena said the Bayelsa APC remained strong and united despite Sylva’s decision to leave the party.
Sylva, who also served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, resigned from the APC on August 31, saying the party had moved away from the ideals on which it was founded.
Reacting to the development in a statement on Wednesday, Nabena said the party’s structure in Bayelsa was bigger than any individual and would remain intact.
“About 90 per cent of APC members and stakeholders in Bayelsa will remain in the party despite Sylva’s departure.
“APC in Bayelsa is bigger than one man. The majority of our members and stakeholders remain committed to the party, and we will continue to work together to strengthen it,” Nabena said.
He expressed confidence that the party would retain its support base and win future elections in the state.
