This was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed on Wednesday.

According to him, preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

“In a swift follow-up operation on Tuesday at about 6:30 a.m., information obtained from the suspect led operatives to a separate location, where a second locally made pistol and a battle axe were recovered,” the statement added.

Babaseyi said the operation underscores the Command’s determination to pursue actionable intelligence beyond arrests and prevent dangerous weapons from remaining in circulation.

He said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspected members and recover additional weapons.

The statement also quoted the State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, as commending the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks and curb illegal possession of firearms.

CP Ojajuni urged residents to provide timely and credible information on suspected criminal activities, assuring that the Command would continue to act decisively to protect lives and property across the state.
