CHICAGO — The Phoenix Suns may have dodged a bullet with Miles Bridges after he left Wednesday’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls due to injury.

The forward sustained the injury on a loose-ball play, twisting his right ankle. Despite trying to play through it, Bridges was eventually taken back to the locker room and ruled out for the rest of the game after just eight minutes on the court and three points.

Luckily, Suns head coach Jordan Ott doesn’t anticipate the injury will be major.

According to Arizona Central’s Duane Rankin, Ott said he’ll play Bridges on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs if he’s fine, while teammate Collin Gillespie said the forward called it a “tweak.”

Bridges had played in the first two games of Phoenix’s preseason before the injury, with Monday’s opener marking his first game in a Suns uniform. In that game, he played 14 minutes against the Detroit Pistons, scoring eight points while adding five rebounds and four assists.

While it is the preseason, injuries like Bridges’ could be something to keep an eye on as the games go on. He’s been part of the starting five in both games, generating chemistry on the floor alongside Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green and Oso Ighodaro.

The Suns acquired him over the summer to be that extra connection that could solidify the starting unit, and any injury, even if it isn’t serious, could derail those plans.

Still, it seems like Bridges won’t miss any time and could be back on the court in Phoenix for the team’s first preseason game at Mortgage Matchup Center.
