Nashua 3, Bravehearts 1: Former Doherty High star Nigel Cross pitched five shutout innings, scattering five hits and striking out four to lift the Silver Knights (9-11) to a win over the visiting Bravehearts (11-8).

Cross, who attends Wentworth, improved to 2-1 on the season for Nashua and threw 75 pitches (51 for strikes).

The Nashua bullpen made his start stick, allowing jhust three hits and one run over the four innings. Leominster’s Aaron Forgues worked a scoreless ninth for Nashoba nad allowed one hit and struck out one.

Worcester’s Gabe Malaret tripled and was driven in by Benny Hess in the seventh inning to put the Bravehearts on the board.

Jake Shaughnessey (0-1) took the loss after giving up three runs on three hits while fanning three over five innings. Kyle McLaughlin gave up one hit over 2⅔ innings and Lake Leclair retired the one batter he faced in the eighth for Worcester.

American Legion

Cherry Valley 11, North County 1; North County 7, Cherry Valley 6: Nolan Remington struck out five and allowed one run on two hits over five innings, while Raymond Romero singled and drove in two and Jeffrey Guzman was 2 for 4 with two RBIs as North County won the first game of a doubleheader split with visiting North County.

Steven Escano doubled and Ian Aronow drove in a run for Post 193 (7-1-1) in the opener.

North County took the nightcap thanks to a three-run rally in the fifth when Rocky Lora (3 walks, stolen base) doubled in a run, Andrew Beauregard (2 RBIs) delivered a sacrifice fly and Adam Adams drove in another run with a single to center.

Jeffrey Guzman was 3 for 4 with a double, triple and RBI, while Romero and Andrew Lancette (double, triple, 2 RBIs) each added three hits and Remington singled twice and stole a base for Post 443 (3-6).

Leominster 2, Northborough 1: Leominster mustered just two hits, but it thanks to strong pitching from Will Urda (4 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 K) and Austin Gibbons (3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 Ks) it was enough for the home win.

After Northborough took a 1-0 lead in the second when Matthew Fialkow singled in a run, Post 151 (7-1) rallied to tie the game in the third when Brendan Mariani singled and later scored on the front end of a double steal, then Troy Leighton grounded into a double play that scored Mariani in the fifth.

Shame Ziegler (4 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 Ks) and Liam Murphy (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 Ks) shined on the hill for Post 234 (1-7), while Young Smith doubled and scored.

Main South 12, Vernon Hill 4: Aiden O’Connor was 4 for 5 with three runs and one RBI, Caden Lane doubled and drove in two and Cooper LeBlanc doubled and drove in a run as visiting Main South scored six in the second to get past Vernon Hill.

Colin McCarthy struck out three and gave up two earned runs on eight hits over four innings and Lane hurled two innings of one-hit relief, giving up one unearned run to seal the game for Post 341 (2-7-1).

Zach Braconnier was 3 for 4 and Kamauri Hughes was 2 for 4 with two runs for Post 435 (0-8).
