Stuttgart agrees €25m Dženan Pejčinović transfer

Stuttgart has reached an agreement with Wolfsburg for the transfer of Dženan Pejčinović, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Wolfsburg has accepted a fixed fee of €25 million for the 21-year-old striker. Pejčinović will sign a contract running until June 2031, while his medical is scheduled to take place today.

The transfer has reached the agreement stage after more than six weeks of negotiations. Stuttgart and Wolfsburg have settled the fee, and Pejčinović had already made it clear that he wanted the move.

Stuttgart initially offered approximately €18 million including bonuses, but Wolfsburg rejected that proposal and insisted on receiving €25 million. The Bundesliga club later increased its offer before eventually meeting the full asking price without performance-related additions.

Pejčinović remained under contract with Wolfsburg until June 2029, giving the club a strong position during the negotiations. Wolfsburg also had no immediate need to sell, despite being relegated to the 2. Bundesliga at the end of last season.

The striker scored 12 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign. Eight of those goals came in the Bundesliga, while he also scored during Wolfsburg’s unsuccessful relegation playoff against Paderborn.

One of his most memorable goals came at the Allianz Arena, where Pejčinović scored against Bayern Munich during Wolfsburg’s 8-1 defeat. He finished a quick attack with a low shot past the goalkeeper, showing the directness that attracted Stuttgart.

Pejčinović joined Wolfsburg from Augsburg’s academy in 2022. He spent the 2024/25 season on loan with Fortuna Düsseldorf, scoring five goals before returning to Wolfsburg and becoming a regular member of the senior team.

The Munich-born forward has represented Germany at several youth levels and currently plays for the Under-21 national team. He had previously appeared for Montenegro at Under-15 level.

At 6 feet 2 inches, Pejčinović can occupy central defenders and give Stuttgart a target inside the penalty area. He also has enough speed to attack space behind a defensive line, which should allow him to play alongside another striker or lead the attack alone.

Stuttgart can offer him Bundesliga soccer and a place in the Champions League after Wolfsburg’s relegation. He will compete with Ermedin Demirović for minutes, giving the club two physical center-forward options during a demanding season.
