Stop blaming Tinubu for insecurity – Fintiri tells Northern leaders

· · 1 min read

Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged leaders in Northern Nigeria to take responsibility for the insecurity affecting the region and seek lasting solutions instead of blaming President Bola Tinubu.

Fintiri made the call on Thursday while speaking at the Adamawa All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders’ engagement in Yola.

He criticised what he described as the tendency among some northerners to blame Southern presidents for insecurity in the region.

Fintiri recalled that former President Goodluck Jonathan was accused of creating the conditions for the emergence of Boko Haram, arguing that the insurgents were from the region.

“But honestly, we are all aware that Boko Haram members are our people, not people from Southern Nigeria,” he said.

The governor also said President Tinubu had not cheated Northern Nigeria since assuming office, while accusing some Northern leaders of failing to provide good governance and address the challenges facing their people.

He urged leaders in the region to stop shifting blame and focus on finding solutions to the problems confronting their communities.
