Steven Adams says NBA players’ performances will drop in November when GTA 6 is released

Houston Rockets big man Steven Adams has pointed to the highly anticipated video game release as something that might affect NBA stars.

It has been 13 years since the last Grand Theft Auto game was released. The franchise has been one of the most popular in history, and GTA 5 was a much-celebrated addition to it when it came out.

Naturally, anticipation has been building for GTA 6 ever since. Memes about things that came out ‘before GTA 6’ have been a consistent part of online culture for a lot of the past decade.

The game will now officially come out on November 19th, 2026. In terms of the impact it will have, Houston Rockets star Steven Adams has hilariously pointed out what it might do to NBA performances.

Steven Adams tells media ‘performances are gonna go down’ after GTA 6 drops in November

Many NBA stars are known gamers, it is a hobby that is extremely popular among top athletes across sports. Luka Doncic’s incredible Overwatch accomplishments are a good example.

So it’s no surprise that Adams has warned of performances across the NBA ‘plummeting’ in November. He did provide a positive outlook on how quickly they should bounce back, though.

Steven Adams says NBA players’ performances

“I will say, you guys should anticipate November,” Adams said. “The performance of the league, league-wide. GTA is dropping. So have a look at NFL, a look at all the leagues, and watch them plummet, mate.”

“Just for the month of November, performances are gonna go down. They should come back up, though. Most of the boys will get it done, hopefully they finish the game… But it should bounce back in December.”

Adams was clearly joking, but it wouldn’t be a big surprise if there ends up being some truth to this. Fans are eagerly awaiting the new NBA season, but the world has been waiting for GTA 6 much longer.
