Mandatory minicamp is underway for the Indianapolis Colts, and before Tuesday’s practice, head coach Shane Steichen provided several injury updates.

During Week 2 of OTAs, Daniel Jones took part in the 7-on-7 period, along with participating in the individual drills. He will again have that same practice schedule this week, still not yet ready to compete in the 11-on-11 drills as he works his way back from an Achilles injury.

According to Jake Arthur, Jones did ask if he could take part in the 11-on-11 drills, but Steichen said the team wants to be “super smart” with him, even with the quick progress Jones has made.

DeForest Buckner won’t practice this week, and neither will Alec Pierce.

Buckner is recovering from a neck injury he sustained last season that required surgery in January. Buckner recently provided an update on his injury, saying he’ll do everything he can to be ready for Week 1.

Pierce underwent offseason ankle surgery and hasn’t participated in the on-field portion of offseason programs yet. According to Joel Erickson, Steichen didn’t rule out the possibility that Pierce waits a couple of weeks into training camp before he returns.

Lastly, Jalen Travis (back) will do individual work on Tuesday. He did not practice during the OTA sessions open to the media. He is expected to start at right tackle for the Colts this season.
