Steelers vs Browns: Will Joey Porter Jr. play against Cleveland?

Playing on Thursday night after a Sunday game is always a hectic and accelerated process. On Monday, instead of a rest day, the Pittsburgh Steelers did a walkthrough as they prepare to take on the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. This allows them to put out a simulated practice report.

On Monday’s report, the team listed cornerback Joey Porter Jr. as a full participant. This is the first time all season that Porter Jr. has gotten this designation. He was a healthy scratch last week after the team decided to drop the whole back injury thing and instead termed it conditioning. Head coach Mike McCarthy has been talking about Porter Jr.’s ramp up for weeks and now it seems that might be done.

If Porter Jr. plays on Thursday night, it will come at the perfect time. The Steelers have two injured defensive backs from Sunday’s game and are thin at the position. Jalen Ramsey was seen in a sling at practice and is dealing with a wrist injury. Brandin Echols is in the concussion protocol after the game and it is highly unlikely he will be ready to play. Porter Jr. could come in and be the hero in a huge AFC North showdown.
