Steelers stock up/stock down after preseason Week One

The Mike McCarthy era began for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night with a blowout preseason win over the Green Bay Packers. Despite what anyone thinks, even McCarthy acknowledged after the game that the priority is to win the game and the Steelers did that 28-9.

Here is our Steelers stock report after preseason Week One.

Allar threw for 153 yards and accounted for three total touchdowns in the second half and has certainly given fans hope that he might be the answer at quarterback.

It was a rough first start for Fautanu at left tackle. People love to downplay the idea of moving from right to left but we saw on full display just how hard it can be for a player, even one as talented at Fautanu.

Roman Wilson was solid as well but you can just see there’s something different about Bernard as a player as he led all receivers in catches and yards.

It was a rough night for the Steelers starting offensive tackles and Cook looked worse than Fautanu. At this point we are really hoping either Max Iheanachor or Broderick Jones can be ready to go at the start of the season because Cook is in over his head.

Robert Tonyan had his best seasons with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay but on Thursday night it didn’t matter who was the quarterback and he might have cemented his spot as the team’s No. 3 tight end.

Do we miss Danny Smith yet? The Steelers special teams were miserable and plagued by seven penalties on Thursday night. Special teams coordinator Danny Crossman needs to get back to work and clean things up in a hurry.
