Steelers CB oey Porter Jr denies claim that he requested trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ ongoing saga with Joey Porter Jr is now dragging into Week 3. The Steelers will face the Cincinnati Bengals and their incredible duo of wide receivers – Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

This would be a great time for the Steelers to get Porter back on the field, as he has yet to play this season. The back injury he was said to be nursing was removed from the injury report on Wednesday, with his limited participation in practice being cited as conditioning.

Over the course of the last handful of weeks, trade rumors have swirled involving Porter’s name, as some believe he could be dealt after not securing a long-term deal from the Steelers. And while that could happen, Porter denied any claims that he requested a trade from the team, per Mike DeFabo of The Athletic. Porter also denied any claims that he was seeking a second opinion on his back injury.

Should Porter miss a third game, the writing on the wall would be even easier to read. It would seem like a near certainty that he would be dealt to a team that is willing to negotiate with him in season and give him a long-term deal.
