The Sunday Times says Andy Burnham would sack Rachel Reeves as Chancellor, if he became prime minister. The paper says Ed Miliband, Pat McFadden, Wes Streeting and John Healey have all been mooted as potential successors.

A Labour source tells the paper that “you would start to see resignation from the middle to the end of next week” if the Sir Keir Starmer has not announced when he intends to leave his post.

According to the Observer Sir Keir is expected to resign on Monday. The paper says the expectation among his supporters is that he will set out a plan to leave in September, allowing his successor to be adopted at the Labour Party conference.

The Sunday Telegraph says it has been told by a senior government figure that the prime minister realises “the game is up”.

Meanwhile a senior ally of Sir Keir’s has told the Sun on Sunday there is “just a 25 per cent chance that he fights on now”.
