St. Peter's Prep football stuns state's No. 1 team on last-second kick

JERSEY CITY — The “Big Boy” playoff bracket in New Jersey high school football got busted by a 5-foot-8, 150-pound kicker.

Junior Bradley Abraham drilled a 20-yard field goal as time expired to lift St. Peter’s Prep to a 13-10 SFC United Red Division win over Don Bosco on Oct. 23.

The Ironmen went in ranked No. 1 in the North Jersey Big Six and the New Jersey Super 25. St. Peter’s came in No. 3 in both polls.

An already clouded Non-Public A playoff picture became further muddied with the Marauders’ victory at Caven Point.

The SFC United Red? Same fate. Both teams finish 2-2 in a division where an Oct. 24 St. Joseph win over Bergen Catholic could keep alive a scenario in which all five United Red teams would share the title.

Check back later for updates.
