Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident.

Akinwande, in a statement made available to DAILY POST, noted that the prompt intervention of the fire service prevented the fire from spreading to other shops.

He said, “Upon arrival, the crew met disused tyres and spare parts engulfed in flames and threatening the surrounding shops and nearby properties.

“The firefighters immediately commenced firefighting operations and requested reinforcement from the Fire Service Headquarters. Consequently, one additional fire truck was deployed to the scene as backup.

“No casualty was recorded. The prompt intervention of the Fire Service successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the shops within the affected area, thereby averting further damage to property.”
