Somers cements its place on top with homecoming football win over Rye
SOMERS – Dean Monachelli brought the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and Somers cemented its place atop the Class A contenders with a demonstrative win over Rye.
Tristan Iglesias tossed three touchdown passes and helped the Tuskers get to 5-0 with a 31-13 homecoming win Friday.
Monachelli caught the first scoring pass and Cameron Violante caught two in the second half.
The Garnets played without Super 11 quarterback Charlie Brady, who suffered a non-contact knee injury last week at Mount Vernon and is done for the season.
