Sokoto tense as ADC supporters chant ‘Tinubu Must Go’ during Atiku’s arrival [VIDEO]

There was tension in Sokoto State on Wednesday as supporters of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, chanted “Tinubu Must Go” the moment the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, landed in the state.

DAILY POST reports that Atiku arrived in Sokoto for the ADC presidential campaign flag-off scheduled for Wednesday.

In the video which has gone viral, immediately after Atiku’s convoy entered Sokoto, a crowd of supporters who lined the road started shouting “Tinubu Must Go, Atiku is Coming” while waving ADC flags and posters.

The rally, tagged Northern Hurricane, had been in controversy after Atiku on Tuesday accused the Department of State Services, DSS, of recruiting protesters to disrupt the event and force the APC-controlled Sokoto State Government to impose a curfew.

At an emergency press conference in Abuja on Tuesday night, Atiku vowed that no intimidation would stop the rally.

“I will be in Sokoto tomorrow, God willing, to address the good people of the state,” Atiku declared.

He alleged that public facilities were blocked and trucks were stationed behind Zenith Bank on Koko Road in Sokoto to dispatch protesters to cause gridlock.

Meanwhile, the DSS has denied the allegation but said its Director General has ordered an investigation, saying its operatives rescued the ADC governorship candidate in Sokoto, Mannir Daniya, on October 31 after he was attacked, and two of its personnel were injured.

Despite the tension, supporters trooped out in large numbers as Atiku landed, chanting solidarity songs and calling for a change of government in 2027.
