Sixers legend Julius Erving gives thoughts on LeBron James addition

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a busy offseason as President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey and the rest of the front office have done their best to figure out how to get this franchise back to the mountaintop. Gansey made solid free agency signings and then swung the big deal to acquire Jaylen Brown before then laded LeBron James.

The projected lineup of Brown, James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe figures to be the best in the league once they nail down chemistry. It will take some time, but the Sixers have a ton of talent and a championship coach in Nick Nurse leading the way. This is a roster that should make a deep run into the postseason in May and into June.

Sixers legend Julius Erving caught up with TMZ and gave his thoughts on the offseason for Philadelphia:

“What I’ve been doing is just pretty much giving the deal a thumbs up. Jaylen Brown, deal, thumbs up,” Erving told us, ticking off some of the blockbuster off-season moves.

“They’re gonna be one of the most talented teams”

There’s a big age discrepancy between the youngest, you know, which is V.J. [Edgecombe], and LeBron,” he explained. “So how that works, it remains to be seen. I mean, you got a 23-year-old, and you got a 42-year-old, or whatever, as the book ends, and you know, Embiid is somewhere in the middle.”

As mentioned, chemistry will be a challenge to start the season. When considering the amount of talent and experience Philadelphia is adding to a roster that hasn’t had the same type of postseason experience as those two, then there’s going to be some ups and downs to start. However, James and Brown are too good and too smart for this not to work. It will take time, sure, but the Sixers are in a great spot to contend.
