Shane van Gisbergen discusses O'Reilly win at Sonoma in 2026

Shane van Gisbergen is a winner in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series once again. On Saturday, van Gisbergen took the No. 9 car for JR Motorsports to victory lane in the O’Reilly Series race at Sonoma Raceway. It was a dominant performance as the Trackhouse Racing driver cruised to victory over Connor Zilisch.

Following the event, van Gisbergen spoke about winning the O’Reilly Series race at Sonoma. It was a good shot of momentum before the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday.

“Luckily enough, I think I saved enough [fuel] early,” van Gisbergen said. “Sorry it wasn’t the most exciting-I guess boring’s good when you’re the one leading…What an amazing car, to lead like that. The car was so good the whole race. It’s great to get another one for these guys.”

Van Gisbergen hopes his No. 97 car for Trackhouse Racing can be just as quick in the Cup Series race at Sonoma on Sunday. The Trackhouse Racing driver is arguably the best NASCAR road course competitor of all time, and Saturday’s performance at Sonoma was a masterclass.
