The live-action Ted series is finally receiving a home video release soon from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. This comes seven months after the acclaimed sitcom wrapped up its second season, which garnered a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The prequel chronicles the high school years of a 16-year-old John Bennett and his magical, foul-mouthed teddy bear Ted, portrayed by Max Burkholder and Seth MacFarlane. Reviews for the Ted series were overwhelmingly positive, with critics and the audience praising the prequel for its solid cast, fast-paced humor, and surprisingly endearing family dynamics.

According to a new listing from Blu-ray.com, Ted: The Complete Series will be released as a four-disc set on Blu-ray and DVD, starting on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. The Blu-ray and DVD releases are now available for pre-order on Amazon for $48.42 and $39.98. The entire show has a total of 15 episodes with a runtime of 9 hours and 2 minutes. This comes ahead of the highly anticipated Peacock premiere of Ted: The Animated series on December 17, which serves as the franchise’s newest spin-off.

The live-action Ted series takes place in the early 1990s during the period when the titular talking bear’s moment of fame has already passed. The prequel follows the lives of Ted and the eccentric Bennett family. In season 1, now that he’s no longer famous, Ted is forced to attend high school with John, where they go through different sorts of trouble, including dealing with a bully and wrecking a car on Halloween. Meanwhile, Ted season 2 follows the chaotic best friends in their senior year of high school, where they begin to contemplate their future.

Peacock’s Ted prequel hails from showrunners, writers, and executive producers Seth MacFarlane, Paul Corrigan, and Brad Walsh. Besides Burkholder and MacFarlane, the cast also included series regulars Alanna Ubach as Susan Bennett, Scott Grimes as Matty Bennett, and Giorgia Whigham as Blaire Bennett, who have all been instant fan favorites.

It also featured award-winning veteran actor Ian McKellan, who served as the show’s narrator. Following its series debut, the show became Peacock’s most-watched original title for more than two consecutive months, per Nielsen.

Despite its success, the live-action Ted series wasn’t renewed for season 3. The franchise will instead continue as an animated series, which will pick up where the original Ted movies left off. It will feature the return of the franchise’s original cast, including Seth MacFarlane as Ted, Mark Wahlberg as John, Amanda Seyfried as Sam, and Jessica Bart as Tami-Lynn. The sequel show will also introduce new characters, portrayed by Kyle Mooney as Apollo and Liz Richman as Ruth.

While waiting for its Blu-ray release on November 24, Ted seasons 1 and 2 are still available to stream on Peacock. As for the upcoming Ted: The Animated Series, the first 8 episodes are scheduled to premiere on December 17, 2026. Meanwhile, its second part is expected to debut sometime in 2027.

Serving as a prequel to the original 2012 film, the TV series Ted is set in 1993, detailing the adventures of a once-famous teddy bear living with 16-year-old John Bennett in working-class Boston.
