Seahawks select Iowa OT in 2027 NFL mock draft from Sports Illustrated

The Seattle Seahawks are prepared to wage another Super Bowl run in 2026, but have still have room to add another generational talent or two to their roster to further their strength as contenders, which may occur next year.

The 2027 NFL Draft class has a talented pool of highly-touted prospects. The Seahawks stand to gain immensely from adding an elite offensive lineman to their unit, or another elite wide receiver to pair with AP Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, which the upcoming class projects to offer in the first round of the draft.

Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano had the Seahawks selecting Iowa offensive tackle Trevor Lauck with the No. 30 overall pick in his 2027 NFL mock draft 1.0.

“Seattle would welcome more competition along the offensive line,” Manzano said. “Right tackle Abraham Lucas has dealt with injuries in the past and has had up-and-down performances throughout his career. Lauck excelled in pass protection during his first season as a starter. He has great strength, savvy hand movements and the edge to end plays and win matchups consistently. But the 6’5″, 315-pound Lauck will need to improve as a blocker in the running game.”

Lauck received a pass block efficiency score of 99 from Pro Football Focus last season at Iowa, which ranked No. 2 in the nation behind then-Utah OT Spencer Fano, now with the Cleveland Browns, and also captures his prowess as a pass-protector.

The Seahawks do need superb blocking from both their right and left tackles, with Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price both being versatile backs who love to cut to the outside in addition to rushing up the middle. However, Lauck’s most important job will need to be protecting Darnold, who, with enough time to throw, is capable of playing at an elite level. Another offensive lineman may indeed be the direction that the Seahawks end up going in on draft day next year.
