The Seattle Seahawks walked out of their season opener with a win, which is a good thing, but it wasn’t easy. Quarterback Sam Darnold was injured early in the contest after getting sacked and having his right knee hit the turf. Now, he’s dealing with a soft-tissue injury in his right glute and is likely to miss the team’s next game against the Arizona Cardinals.

When Darnold was out, quarterback Drew Lock took over, and boy, did he give them a show. Lock had 16 completions on 22 attempts for 187 yards and one touchdown during the team’s game against the New England Patriots. That helped push the Seahawks over the edge to a 13-10 win.

Now, Lock is getting respect. He deserves it.

Drew Lock has the confidence of the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2

In a feature out on Wednesday, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler has some good news for Lock. According to Fowler, Lock is, well, a lock for the Seahawks’ next game. They have confidence in him.

“In Seattle, it’s clear Sam Darnold will miss this week and possibly Week 3,” Fowler states in the feature. “But the Seahawks have refrained from putting him on short-term injured reserve, which is a good sign. The team seems confident that Drew Lock is plug and play until Darnold returns.”

So, Lock is “plug and play” ready to take the field. Insider Graziano agrees.

“Yeah, Seattle believes Lock can handle it, so he’s the guy there for the foreseeable future,” he notes in the piece, agreeing with Fowler.

So, if you’re a Seattle fan, expect to see a lot more of Lock in the coming weeks. It’s not ideal to have your starting quarterback out, but at least it appears this team is still in good hands.
