Scheffler will have mixed feelings about his week at Muirfield Village. Of course, he went into the latest signature event looking to win at Jack’s Place for a third straight year.

Had he done so, Scheffler would have become only the second player to win the Memorial Tournament three times in a row, with Tiger Woods the other.

Scheffler did, however, move closer to one record the 15-time major champion currently holds.

Scottie Scheffler edges closer to Tiger Woods’ record on the PGA Tour

The world number one looked to be in some danger of missing the cut on Friday. He certainly struggled to contain his frustration at times over the first two days.

But Scheffler showed more of his brilliance in the third round, posting a 68 to fly up the leaderboard. Ultimately, he finished in a tie for 12th on four under par.

With that, Scottie Scheffler has now registered 33 consecutive top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour.

Only Tiger Woods has managed more since 1983, with the 50-year-old once putting together a run of 38 at one stage in his career.

The last time Scottie Scheffler finished outside the top 25 on the PGA Tour

Interestingly, the last time Scheffler finished outside the top 25 in a PGA Tour event came at the BMW Championship in 2024.

Many will probably remember that well due to Scheffler losing his cool at times over the first two days at Muirfield Village.

It was surprising to see Scheffler shouting at Ted Scott, particularly when one approach he hit ended up going off the back of the green.

Scheffler has had little to get frustrated about ever since. He has been such a dominant force on the PGA Tour over the last few years.

It did appear that his run may be about to end over the last few days. But Scheffler managed to battle back superbly to send a message ahead of the US Open later this month.
