Schedules announced for Texas Tech softball, baseball 2027 seasons

The Texas Tech softball team will open and close Big 12 Conference play at Tracy Sellers Field during the 2027 season.

The conference announced the league schedule on Thursday, giving a glimpse into what this year’s Red Raiders will be up against. Texas Tech is coming off its second Women’s College World Series appearance in a row, each finishing with a loss to Texas in the championship series.

League play begins the weekend of March 11-14, which sees Texas Tech hosting Kansas to kick things off. The Red Raiders will alternate home and road series the first four weeks before its open date, hosting UCF (March 25-28) and visiting Baylor (March 18-21) and Iowa State (April 1-4).

Texas Tech returns to action April 15-18 with a series at Arizona followed by a home series with Houston April 22-25. The Red Raiders close the regular season visiting Oklahoma State (April 29-May 2) and hosting Arizona State (May 6-9).

The Big 12 Conference softball tournament is slated for May 13-15 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.

It was also announced Thursday that Texas Tech will return to be part of the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational, which runs Feb. 18-21. The Red Raiders will be joined by Florida State, Liberty, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, UCF, Virginia Tech, Washington, Texas A&M, Clemson and East Carolina.

The schedule for the Clearwater Invitational will be released at a later date.

The Big 12 also announced the 2027 league baseball schedule, allowing the Texas Tech baseball team to announce its full slate of games for the season.

Texas Tech begins the season with a three-game home series against Saint Mary’s Feb. 19-21. That’s followed by a two-game road trip to UTSA before playing Texas State, Louisiana Tech and Alabama at Round Rock to close out the month. The Red Raiders will also take on Oklahoma on a neutral site, host San Diego for three games and play a four-game series at Oregon State before opening Big 12 play March 18-20 at BYU.

The Red Raiders’ Big 12 home-opening series will be March 25-27 against Baylor. Other home series include Cincinnati (April 9-11), Arizona State (April 23-25), TCU (May 7-9) and Utah (May 20-22) to close the regular season. Texas Tech will visit Kansas (April 2-4), Houston (April 16-18), Oklahoma State (April 30-May 2) and UCF (May 14-16).

Also announced Thursday was the date for the Texas Tech basketball team’s exhibition game against Kentucky.

The Red Raiders will head to Rupp Arena in Lexington for the first time in 40 years to take on the Wildcats on Oct. 23 in a preseason contest. More details of the exhibition will be announced later.

Texas Tech’s home games in non-conference play are Nov. 2 against Jackson State; Nov. 5 against Bethune-Cookman, Nov. 10 against Illinois,; No. 14 against Stonehill College; Nov. 18 against New Orleans; Dec. 8 against Omaha; Dec. 15 against Incarnate Word; and Dec. 28 against Mississippi Valley State.

The Red Raiders also head to Vegas the week of Thanksgiving for the Players Era Sixteen. They’ll open play against Louisville on Nov. 24 and play either Oregon or St. John’s on Nov. 26 before playing one of Tennessee, Maryland, San Diego State or Iowa State.

Texas Tech will also head to Madison Square Garden in New York City to take on Duke on Dec. 21.
