The options are going away for Jalen Duren as trade rumors swirl around the Detroit Pistons center.
The Sacramento Kings have popped their head around the corner and said hello again.
Duren may have preferred the Los Angeles Lakers, but they’re off the table. They just swung a big deal for Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz.
He may have wanted the Boston Celtics, but they’re gone, too. Mitchell Robinson has signed with them.
Does that just leave the Kings?

They’re the main team that was involved in the initial Duren rumors, and they haven’t yet added a different center.
The problem with Sacramento is that they’d probably have to pull off a sign-and-trade to make it happen. The most likely player to go the other way would be Domantas Sabonis.
And would the Pistons have any interest in Sabonis? You wouldn’t think so, unless they really got backed into a corner.
It will be an interesting philosophical experiment, though.

Does Duren want all the money he can get? Then he should consider Sacramento.
Does Duren want to win? He should probably stay in Detroit.
Multiple teams that had the option to go after Duren went in other directions. That’s probably not a good sign for him.
