Sacking imminent: Turkey set to dismiss Vincenzo Montella

The Turkish Football Federation has decided to end Vincenzo Montella’s tenure as national team coach following their World Cup group-stage elimination and four consecutive defeats in the Nations League.

Severance payment and potential replacement

To finalize the Italian coach’s departure, the federation will pay €915,000 in compensation, equivalent to five months’ salary. With this in mind, the leadership is already considering his successor, with Arda Turan emerging as the leading candidate to take charge.

A look back at his three-year tenure

Montella ends a three-year spell that began in September 2023, overseeing 40 matches (21 wins, 5 draws and 14 defeats). His achievements include reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 and securing World Cup qualification after a 24-year absence. His final match will be against Italy at the Dall’Ara stadium.
