Rumour Mongering: Trabzonspor Agree Two-Year Mohamed Salah Deal

· · 1 min read

We’re into the first week of August and somewhat shockingly Mohamed Salah remains without a club after he and Liverpool agreed to a termination of his contract at the end of the 2025-26 season that would allow him to move on and give the legendary forward his pick up new clubs with the understanding he would be moving outside the Premier League.

Following the end of the World Cup there was a brief flurry of reports around a move to Fenerbahce in Turkey, but that all got messy when the Super Lig side went public claiming Salah had agreed a deal only for his agent to blow it up at the last second by demanding unprecedented additional agent fees. Now we’re apparently set to do it all over again with another Turkish club.

This time it’s Trabzonspor who are being reported in Turkey as having agreed a deal with Salah, said to be a two-year contract and with Salah being handed 20% of jersey sales as a sweetener. Some reports are going as far as to call it a done deal and branding it officially wrapped up. After what happened with Fenerbahce, we might be inclined to not go quite that far.

Still, with the 2026-27 season only weeks away now, Salah really should be getting a new club sorted, and it’s surprising that the current signs point towards a move to Turkey given most expected him to try to continue in a top European league like Serie A and if he is going to take a big step down there are seem lucrative alternatives in MLS and the Saudi Pro League.
