Romano hints Liverpool could yet add new right back to Araujo move
Liverpool’s move for Ronald Araujo has fans wondering if the club is still going to sign a specialist right back.

The surprise deal of the last 24 hours without doubt has been Ronald Araujo’s loan to Liverpool.
Late last night, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano dropped the info that the Barcelona back would be joining the Reds for the season. By this morning he was calling it a done deal, claiming that the Reds would take the Uruguay star for a year with a €55m option to buy.
It’s an interesting deal, and it gives Andoni Iraola’s team a new body at the back. But there’s still a gap at right back – is Araujo seen as cover there too? According to Romano, they could yet move for a dedicated player in that position.
Liverpool still in the market for right back despite Araujo signing
“I can’t say that Liverpool will not sign a right-back in the final weeks of the transfer window, but the focus was centre-back,” Romano said on his Youtube channel.
“On Liverpool, there are many reports on right-back. If I know something on right-back, I will let you know.”
One name that had been mentioned was Tottenham right back Djed Spence – but Romano shuts down that idea: “at the moment I am not aware of movements for Djed Spence, despite reports. If something happens, I will let you know.”
Araujo certainly gives them an option in that area, and means their need isn’t critical but it sounds like they’re very much keeping an eye out for an opportunity in the market should one come up in the final few weeks.
