Roma Eye Loan Deal for Real Madrid Wonderkid Endrick

While Roma is making progress in their pursuit of West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, reportedly agreeing to personal terms with the Dutch winger, we’ll mix things up a bit and focus on a different name this morning. And Friday’s soup de jour is Real Madrid’s Brazilian prodigy Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa, a soon-to-be 20-year-old left-footed forward.

Better known as Endrick, the former Palmeiras wonderkid has been in the spotlight from day one. With appearances in numerous prospect lists over the past several years, including ESPN FC and The Guardian’s Next Generation (2023 edition), he’s one of the most lauded youth players of the 2020s.

There’s just been one small problem: He’s never managed to crack the rotation at Real Madrid, logging fewer than 1,000 minutes since arriving at the Bernabeu in 2024. The fact that he managed seven goals in such limited action speaks to his talent and potential.

Sensing a potential opportunity lost, Real Madrid loaned their star pupil to Lyon last spring. In his first taste of full-time action in a top-flight European league, Endrick did not disappoint. In 1,600 minutes last spring, Endrick delivered an impressive eight goals and seven assists.

However, with competition for minutes as thick as ever at Madrid, the club is reportedly open to sending Endrick on loan this coming season. According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, Roma are making inroads on a potential loan deal for teenaged sensation.

While that tweet is a little light on details, given his importance to Real Madrid’s future, we can safely assume it would be a season-long dry loan. Still, if he can repeat his Lyon form, Endrick would be an intriguing piece of the puzzle for Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma next season.
