Roma considers Gabriel Martinelli as Arsenal lowers asking price

· · 2 min read

Roma has revived its interest in Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, with the Premier League club reportedly prepared to discuss a sale for between €40 million and €45 million.

According to Tuttomercato, the Brazilian has returned to Roma’s list of attacking options after the Italian club considered him earlier in the transfer window.

Roma has not contacted Arsenal, approached Martinelli’s representatives or submitted a bid. The story remains at the internal interest stage, with the club assessing whether the financial conditions make a transfer realistic.

Martinelli had previously been offered to Roma by intermediaries, but the Serie A club was focused on other attacking targets and did not pursue the opportunity. His name is now being discussed again as Roma examines alternative options for the left side of its attack.

Arsenal’s reported asking price has fallen into the €40 million to €45 million range. That figure is consistent with earlier reports linking the winger with Barcelona, when SoccerNews reported that Arsenal valued Martinelli at approximately €45 million.

Martinelli’s contract runs until June 2027, though Arsenal holds an option to extend it for another season. The approaching end of the guaranteed agreement could make the club more willing to discuss a sale this summer.

The 25-year-old joined Arsenal from Ituano in 2019 and has since made more than 250 appearances for the club. He played an important role as Arsenal won the Premier League during the 2025/26 season, but he has faced growing competition for minutes in wide positions.

Arsenal signed Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge earlier this summer, while Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke can also play on the wings. The arrival of Tzolis gave Arsenal another direct option in attack and could make the club more comfortable discussing Martinelli’s departure.

Martinelli would offer Roma a natural left winger who can attack space behind a defense, carry the ball over long distances and move into central scoring positions. His Italian passport would also simplify his registration if Roma decides to pursue the transfer.

The asking price remains a considerable obstacle. Roma would need to decide whether to invest most of its remaining attacking budget in one player before opening talks with Arsenal.

Status: Roma has revived its internal interest in Martinelli, and Arsenal may discuss a sale for €40 million to €45 million. Roma has made no approach, submitted no bid and held no reported negotiations with Arsenal or the player.
