Rodri requests Barcelona to fast-track negotiations, wishes to join training next week – report

Barcelona are moving at top-speed on the Rodri negotiations and have already submitted an official opening bid to Manchester City for the star midfielder’s signing.

The English side are said to have rejected that bid deeming it to be too low, but Barcelona are determined to come back soon with an improved offer to reduce the gap with Manchester City.

After all, the player has made his desire to play for Barcelona clear to his current club and all parties involved are working hard to complete the transaction on favourable terms.

Rodri’s request

As reported by SPORT in a recent update, Rodri is currently enjoying his vacation in Ibiza, patiently awaiting the completion of his transfer. On that front, the player has made one request to the Catalan administration.

The player has reportedly asked Barcelona to close the operation at the earliest, possibly before August 12th so that he can directly travel to Catalonia from Ibiza and begin training under Hansi Flick.

He does not want to waste any time in his adaptation and wants to return with the rest of the Spanish internationals next week. After all, Barcelona and Manchester City are not too far off on the negotiating front and an agreement is not complicated.

Manchester City will facilitate the departure

The Spanish outlet once again reiterates that Rodri has already informed Manchester City of his desire to play for Barcelona and return to Spain.

He shares a special bond and is immensely respected internally at Manchester City, and the Premier League club will thus help facilitate his exit and will not pose any hurdles. All they ask for is a fair price.

The coming hours and days, thus, may well prove decisive as Barcelona will look to give the player what he asks for – a quick completion of formalities.

In fact, latest reports suggest an agreement for a deal worth €50 million has been struck, although confirmation is awaited.

If all goes to plan, the veteran star is expected to join training under Hansi Flick immediately. He is doing well after his minor surgery and will not face a long time out of action.

His debut, however, may be delayed to early September given how the FIFA World Cup would have taken a toll on his body. After all, Flick has never been one to risk his players’ fitness.
