Rick Barnes previews Tennessee basketball at 2026 SEC media day

SEC basketball media day was held Tuesday at Hotel Wildemont in Birmingham, Alabama.

Tennessee basketball head coach Rick Barnes discussed his team ahead of the 2026-27 season.

“We’re going to do what we need to do as a team to be the best basketball team that we can be,” Barnes said. “I do think that if you talk to each one of these guys that we brought in, they would tell you, man for man, that this is the best group of talent that they’ve ever played with. Certainly guys have had some great production in college basketball. They’re coming in from different leagues.

“Our league is different. The SEC is different than any other league in the country, and they’ll have to make those adjustments.”

Tennessee has nine incoming transfers for its 2026-27 basketball season: guard Tyler Lundblade, guard Jalen Haralson, guard Juke Harris, guard Terrence Hill Jr., guard Dai Dai Ames, center Miles Rubin, forward Christian Fermin, forward Braedan Lue and forward Jalen Washington.
