Report: Yaxel Lendeborg impresses during pre-draft workout with Warriors

With the NBA draft quickly approaching, it is still a mystery as to what Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Golden State Warriors have planned for the No. 11 overall selection in next Tuesday’s draft. Throughout draft season, the Warriors have been linked to a flurry of different prospects. In each mock draft, the Warriors appear to be attached to a new name. Yet, one player appears to be standing out after a recent pre-draft workout.

Michigan wing Yaxel Lendeborg was in San Francisco last week. Mixed into a group of otherwise second-round prospects, Lendeborg unsurprisingly impressed those in attendance, team sources said, solidifying an internal belief that he’s a 6-foot-9 plug-and-play frontcourt option for a team that desperately needs skilled size. “The fit is so obvious,” one team source said.

Lendeborg has been one of the top prospects to head to the Bay Area for a pre-draft workout. Following his on-court work, Lendeborg spoke with members of the media and discussed what he would bring to Golden State, along with his fit alongside Steph Curry.

Lendeborg, at 24-years-old, is one of the older prospects likely to be selected in the lottery in the 2026 draft class. The Warriors won’t take Lendeborg off the board because of his age, but “it will be part of the calculus when the Warriors are on the clock,” per Slater.

Prior to leading Michigan to a national championship, Lendeborg played three seasons of junior college basketball and two seasons at UAB in the American Conference. When Lendeborg got to Michigan, he flourished under Dusty May, becoming a consensus All-American and the Big 10 Player of the Year.

With the Wolverines, the 6-foot-9 forward averaged 15.1 points on 51.5% shooting from the field and 37.2% from beyond the arc to go along with 6.8 boards, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per contest.

Lendeborg will continue be a name to monitor heading into the first round of Tuesday’s NBA Draft.
